Vic and I grew up in New York. When we completed our educations, we came to Maine to raise a family. This was our first home, and we’ve been here for over a half century. When we purchased the property in 1973, neighbors called it the “outhouse on the beach”, but all we heard was “beach.” We worked and worked on improvements like renovating the beach house, which sits directly on the shore and was a boat repair shop in the 1940’s. I discovered the architect, Hugh Newell Jacobsen of Georgetown, Washington DC, when we were in out early 30’s. We never lost that dream, and 30 years later, in 2008, Hugh designed a house for us up on the hilly part of the property.
We love all water sports, and took our two sons out of school twice, once to sail to and live in the Bahamas and a second time to sail as far south as Dominica. Those are trips full of a lifetime of memories.
We love sharing Duckdown and Rockport, Camden, and Rockland with our guests. Children are also enamored with our home and enjoy exploring the shoreline and tidal pools here from dawn to dusk.
It is our passion to have happy guests who return often.
